Newton could be a Good Car Racer

Talking about Newton, you probably remember him from school Physics. Yes, Newton formulated the famous Newton’s Laws of Motion. What will those laws do with car racing?

These laws apply to all macro things in the universe, including cars. With knowledge in Physics, car racing would be enhanced. How? Newton’s law can be stated into three concepts incorporating some tips in car racing.

The first law: a car moving in straight-line at constant speed will continue in that motion unless acted by an external force. Applying to cars, there’s an external force that hinders it to continue in motion specifically this force slows down car’s speed. What if you have tires, which offers lesser friction? Of course, you’ll drive faster.

The second law: When there’s applied force to the car, the change in motion is proportional to the force and inversely proportional to the mass of the car. Simply, there’s greater change in motion when there’s also greater force applied. Plus the fact that car’s mass also affect the change in motion, the lesser the mass, the greater would be the change in motion. Again, applied to car racing, this explains why quick cars are powerful and designed to be lightweight.

The third law: In every motion, there’s an equal and opposite reaction. Applied to car racing, whatever the force your car exerts on the ground, the ground also exerts equal amount of force to your car. This can be observed in applying brakes. Since by braking, the tires push forward against the ground, and the ground pushes back. As long as there’s connection between the car and the tires, the pushing of the ground slows down the car.

Could you now figure out why Newton has the potential to be a good car racer? He’s the one formulated those laws, so he should have the know-how on applying it to practical situations, like car racing. For car racers out there, replace your old tires, make your brake more functional, and the entire car lightweight. How? Look for auto parts manufacturers and dealers where you can find what you need.
